Hello, I know there's similar topics to this here, but none of them have the same kind of problem. I have 3 jacks, so I can get audio output from 2 sources, and audio input from another. My problem is, when I plug in both my headphones and speakers, I get all the audio output from my computer from them both at the same time. I want to just get the audio from my Steam voice chat on the headphones and the audio from my game from my speakers, as I am fond of making videos with FRAPS and don't want the voice recorded. I know it is possible to split the audio, but when I go to my playback devices in my sound options, all that's there is speakers, no headphones. It would appear that my headphones and speakers both register as speakers at the same time. Is there any way I can fix this?I am running Windows 7 Home Premium.Sorry if this is in the wrong category, I'm not really all that good with this stuff.

On my mother board at the back panel I have 3 jacks3 Audio jacks: line-out, line-in and mic-in.So I USE the back panel to connect speakers in to LINE-OUT jackOn the FRONT PANEL I have 2 Audio jacks: line-out, mic-in.And use the front panel to connect HEADPHONES and MIC.Um.I have no idea what you just said. I know nothing about hardware. If I did, I wouldn't have to come to fourms for help, no disrespect intended to you. I'm going to to make and educated guess here and assume you are talking about a tower. I have a laptop, an Alienware Mx14.

Using windows 10, and I've noticed some games don't switch their audio when you start them on headphones and then change default to speakers. This is useful because it allows me to play videogames using headphones while a sibling watches netflix on my second monitor/TV. The thing is, only a small amount of games do this! (Mostly indie, almost none AAA for some reason).

I was looking for a way to make some programs go to headphones and some go to speakers. Chevolume used to do this, but it is way too old and abandoned so it barely works anymore. It depends on how game hooks into audio drivers. So i imagine adding another routing layer would have mixed results. How i imagine it now works: some games/programs check what is default audio interface and hook directly to it (changing default device after will have no effect); other games/programs hook to windows interface (changing default will change output then). As an example - Audacity: set hooking to Windows DirectSound and playback on 'Primary Sound Driver' and it'll react to default device changes; if set to non 'Primary Sound Driver' (e.g. 'Headset Earphone') - will not react. I imagine games often check and hook directly instead of pushing through windows interface since it certain cases it can cause latency and implementation issues. So it's worth giving a check if the game or Netflix have settings of expressly stating which audio interface to use.

I notice more and more software start to have that option.Or if You have time and drive, there are solutions and workarounds online. Mostly workarounds. Also when i comes to front and back 3.5mm jacks - they are controlled by same audio device so sending different output though those is not going to be possible on basic realtek driven board i'd think.
