The following steps show how to remove the link between a Word document and a mail merge data source.When you open a Word document that has mail merge data source you see a message that reads: Opening this document will run the following SQL command.These steps work in both Word 2013 and Word 2016. With the Word document open, open the ‘Mailings’ tab. Click on the ‘Start Mail Merge’ button. Then click on ‘Normal Word Document’. Close the save the document – the link to the data source has now been removed.

This happens every once in a while and I can't figure out what the problemis. I have an Excel datasheet, all cells are filled out. I go to Word, set up my document, insert my merge fields, and insert the 'next-record' at thebottom of the page. They are right there in the merge recipients list withcheck marks and all the data is visible, and when I toggle to view the mergeddata, all records are there but when I merge to a new document or theprinter, every other one isn't showing up!!! Where are they going and why??This is making me crazy as I have to merge each individual record to theprinter one at a time!!!
