According to the nay-sayers yes, because it's 2017 and single-player isn't relevant anymore. If that were the least bit true, games like Fallout, Dishonored, and Wolfenstein wouldn't have sold a single copy.Even in the age of multiplayer games, Instant Action still has a purpose.

It allows you to play for as long as you want without the state of the servers or the number of players online being a factor. It allows you to customize the experience to your heart's content- something you will never find in online matchmaking- and is especially important to a Star Wars game; every Star Wars fan has their own preferences when it comes to the era, the faction, the map, the heroes, and so on. Exactly this! IA is perfect for those that want to continue to enjoy a game years after the servers are shut down or players have moved on to something else. Personally I think it would move season passes a little more too if IA was included in those as well. Battlefield was another game where this happened. The older ones would have AI where as the newer ones completely ignored it except for in campaign, which gets old after a while.

I understand it takes time to program everything, especially now, but it sucks IA isn't as present in games as it used to be. I doubt DICE are the one deciding what and what not to put in the game at this level. From EA's point of view they of course want to sell a new game within a couple of years, if we got instant action as an offline option mods will start opening up and that means less potential sales for whenever Battlefront 3 hits. Plus there's the fact that I believe everyone who plays online games usually has a 24/7 connection to the internet, one would not buy Overwatch if they had shitty connection or no permanent internet.

Instant Action Battlefront 2

I wholeheartedly agree. Instant Action for the original Battlefront games were my childhood. I remember making up story lines in my mind, where I would make a playlist of maps in a certain order, and tie them all together like a TV series. I even wrote down some AI names and made them reoccurring characters (such as Nom Carver being my sworn enemy). It gradually turned into fully fledged stories that I wrote out and still have over a decade later.

It's a totally customizable experience you can't get from online.
